I saw that movie" is fine, really

ngl I see people getting corrected for using simple past instead of present perfect and it makes me wanna scream. If someone says "I saw that movie" and you know they mean they saw it recently, why does it matter? Communication first, people. Nobody is gonna fail a real conversation over that.
